Responsibilities 

  1. Strategic Leadership:
  2. Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategic plan for the Sydani Research Institute.
  3. Implement policies and procedures to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  4. Lead grant proposal writing.
  5. Research Management:
  6. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of research projects.
  7. Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration among researchers and teams.
  8. Ensure the adherence to ethical standards and research integrity.
  9. Develop methodologies to ensure research methods are consistent, accurate, and reliable.
  10. Analyze data using statistical methods and software, such as SPSS, STATA, R, or SAS, to identify trends and patterns.
  11. Financial Management:
  12. Identify and secure funding opportunities from various sources, including government grants, private foundations, and industry partnerships.
  13. Develop and manage the institute's budget, allocating resources efficiently.
  14. Lead collaboration with other institutions to drive business development.
  15. Team Leadership:
  16. Recruit, mentor, and manage a diverse team of researchers and support staff.
  17. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes creativity and productivity.
  18. Oversee research staff, including recruiting, mentoring, and training new employees, and maintaining a thriving work environment.
  19. Collaboration and Networking:
  20. Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, academia, industry, and government bodies.
  21. Represent the institute at conferences, seminars, and other relevant events.
  22.  Identify potential ideas to pitch to supervisors of research and innovation.
  23. Stay up to date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging research methods.
  24. Communication and Advocacy:
  25. Effectively communicate the institute's mission, goals, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  26. Advocate for the institute's interests and contributions in the scientific community.
  27. Provide regular reports to senior management on research progress and findings.


Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies

  1. M.Sc. in a related field, such as Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Psychology, Economics, or Sociology. PhD degree will be an added advantage.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in research methodology, data analysis, and project management.
  3. Strong proficiency in statistical software, such as SPSS, STATA, SAS, or R.
  4. Proficiency in qualitative software (i.e., NVivo or ATLAS) is also an added advantage.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex data to senior management.
  7. Experience supervising research staff and fostering a positive work environment.
  8. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results.
  9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) publications in high impact journals.
